Parallel Arrangement of Bulbs in a Circuit

Can you tell the advantage(s) of such an arrangement now?
For the same number of batteries in each circuit for a fair comparison, we can see that:

1) When bulbs are added in parallel, the brightness of the bulb will be the same, in the same circuit and for a simple circuit with 1 bulb and 1 battery.
2) The individual bulb in parallel is  brighter than the bulb in series.

Hope that helps!
When in doubt, just use the software to clarify first! Have fun!

P6: Area of Circles

Dear Maths professors,

Let's learn more about circles!

What makes a circle a circle and how is it relevant to our daily life?

20 March: Science comp lab session

READ THIS POST FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE QUESTIONS!!!

Hi children,

I hope you have a restful holidays with your loved ones!
Let's recap what we have learnt before the March holidays:

The 2 batteries that have the same (positive terminal) facing each other will act as electrical conductors. The light bulb will light up with the chemical potential energy from 1 battery (the rightmost) only.

The light bulb with thrice the brightness intensity when all batteries are placed correctly (positive to negative terminals)

Wires must be placed at the metal tip and metal casing of a light bulb. Should the 2 wires be placed at either sides indicated, then the bulb will just act as an electrical conductor. Current will pass through it but that bulb will not light up.

For those who can't access the software from home, please make use of this time to construct the different circuits in Activity 10 & 11.

For Activity 11, please remember to predict first  before constructing the circuit. Complete the circuit diagrams with a pencil and ruler and the relationship qn (Results).

Do NOT complete the extended questions that follow after.
Submit your book ONLY IF you have done the above.

Click HERE to download again if the software is not already downloaded in the school desktop.

Have fun exploring the various combination!

P5: Multiplying by Fractions

Dear Maths professors,

How good are you at multiplying fractions? Try the following quizzes to find out!

Here are some raps on multiplying fractions for you. Hope that you will find them useful in understanding the concepts. :)

Revision: P5 Percentage

Hola, P6 professors!

Let's recall what we have learnt about percentages in P5. Enjoy the video :)

McOnline Update

Hello class,

In case you do not know, there's an update for all students' User ID and Password.
Please log in with the following:

User ID: EDP(last 6 characters of BC number)
e.g. Your NRIC is T0912345H. So your user ID will be: EDP12345H

Password: Student01
Do take note that's numerical '01', not letter O

Upon your first log-in, they will prompt you to change your password.
Do keep your password to yourself and of course, remember it.

Do remember to check out our Social Learning Wall and post your responses.
I can't wait to read them!

Happy March Holidays to all!

Circuit Construction

Click HERE to download the Circuit Construction Kit.

You may start to explore the different possible arrangements of a circuit, e.g.
  • adding more batteries in series
  • adding more bulbs in series
  • adding more bulbs in parallel
Have fun exploring! Hope this will be useful in constructing your house for the AA Electricity project too!
